How the other half lives...

But then, George Orwell let us masterfully know about how the other half lived in the years immediately after the Belle Époque.

His description of the working conditions of poor immigrants in the magnificent Paris of the 1930s are still relevant today.

Not that Baron von Trotta does not appreciate the secret delights of the cultivated aristocratic culture of Europe before the WWII, quite the contrary.

It is just both desolate and enlightening  to realize that, after another world war, the welfare state, wild capitalism 2.0, high taxing, the fall of the Soviet system, and the EU, Orwell's lived and written pages are still valid.
